Ola Mae Chandler, age 81, of Rural Retreat, VA passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2012. She was born on September 25, 1930 in Stoney Fork, VA, the daughter of the late Jacob and Virginia Chandler Six. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chalmer Chandler; son, William Chandler; grandson, Kevin Chandler; 2 great-grandchildren, 5 brothers and 3 sisters. She was a member of Stoney Fork Community Church. She is survived by 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce Cox and Jimmy of Rural Retreat, VA, Diann Lilly of Wytheville, VA, Faye Blanchett and Gary of Rural Retreat, VA; 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Carrington “Kerry” Chandler and Mary Ellen, Randall “Rick Chandler and Sandra, Greg Chandler and Mary all of Rural Retreat, VA; 22 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren. A host of other relatives also survive. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 9, 2012 at the Barnett Funeral Chapel with the Reverend Carl Pauley officiating. Interment will follow in Stoney Fork Community Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:00 noon until service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations may be made to Stoney Fork Cemetery Fund. Barnett Funeral Home, Wytheville, VA is handling the arrangements.
