Obituary

Ada Lucille Smith King, 90, of Crockett VA, went to be with Jesus on Good Friday, March 29, 2024.

Born August 1, 1933 to the late Bessie Kitts Smith and Grover Cleveland Smith.

She was a devoted and loving Christian wife of 71 years and a wonderful mother and grandmother. She was affectionately called sweetheart, granny, and mamaw. She was a talented pianist, who played by ear and note, including a pump organ, since she was 14.  She played at church, weddings, and funerals. She was a pianist and treasurer for many years at Kimberling Christian Church in Rural Retreat. She had the honor to play with the Green Valley Quartet. She was an excellent seamstress and quilter and enjoyed board puzzles, flowers, coloring, and reading books. She never met a stranger and saw good in everyone. Her "ministry" was sending greeting cards to the sick or for numerous occasions. Her focus in life was God and family and her weekly highlight was attending church. She gave her heart to the lord at age 18; the most important event in her life.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Marie Cline, brothers, Elmer, Hugh, Bill, Curtis, Melvin, granddaughter and son in law Chauncey and Dale Bell, grandson, Timothy King Jr, great grandson, Dawson Terry.

Survivors include her husband of 71 years, Clyde King, Sr, five daughters, Patsy and Kenneth Littreal, Inga Bell, Karen and Eddie Earhart, Pam and Johnny Grubb, Beverly Lacy and Michael Howery, three sons, Clyde Jr and Sandy King, Tim and Mary Ellen King, Jeff King and Dana Howell, also surviving are 19 Grandchildren, 29 Great Grandchildren, and 2 Great Great Grandchildren. A sister-in-law, Helen King Odom of Fl., special nieces, Nina and Robert Hagy, Flo Smith and Jeff Meador.

Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 7 p.m. at the Lindsey Funeral Home' with Pastors Wayne Linkous, and David Greer officiating. Burial will follow on Wednesday April 3, 2024  at 2P.M. at Rosewood Memory Gardens. Family will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at the Lindsey Funeral Home.
