Ann Bernice Johnson, age 80, of Wytheville, VA passed away Friday, March 28, 2025. She was born January 27, 1945 in Wythe County, daughter of the late James Edward and Ella Hale Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Beverly Annette Sawyers, and 2 sisters, Betty Jo and Ruth Lynn Johnson.

Survivors include her son, William S. Sawyers, Jr. and wife Bridget Sawyers; daughter, Cherenda Renée Mitchell (Sawyers); 4 sisters, Aileen Rodgers and Roy, Cynthia Johnson, Martha Johnson and Patricia Jones; brother, James E. "Putt" Johnson, Jr; 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; lifelong friends, Edith Sawyers and Wilma Dabney.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at Franklin Street United Methodist Church with the Reverend Harry Grubb and Sonja Crockett officiating.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. service time.

Burial will follow the service at Rosewood Memorial Gardens in Rural Retreat.
