Ardelia Taylor
Schreiber
July 22, 1933 – October 23, 2022
Ardelia (Taylor) Schreiber, of Fort Chiswell, Virginia, passed away peacefully in her home on October 23, 2022, to be with Jesus and all the loved ones who graciously awaited her in heaven.
Ardelia, also known as "Art," "Radar," Mama, and Nannie, was born July 22, 1933, in Ivanhoe, Virginia. She met the love of her life, George Schreiber, and married him on August 25, 1951. She had three wonderful daughters and loved being a mother, including working at the schools they attended as a secretary. She then became the secretary at Wythe County Sheriff's Office, a position she held for 20 years. During that season, she also spent time campaigning for the candidates she supported, and many would see her working at the polls from morning to night. Ardelia loved God and all his people and was a devoted community servant. She dedicated her time as the gifted pianist and choir member of Fort Chiswell United Methodist Church for over 50 years, where she was a member since the church's inception. She coordinated and led church events, vacation bible school, and many church meals, where you would always find her welcoming smile while she greeted, cooked, cleaned, and generously gave her time.
Ardelia was most prominently a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She carried a light from within that she graciously shared with everyone she met. She loved unconditionally, forgave compassionately, smiled and laughed easily, and was the center of her family's gatherings, holidays, vacations, and daily lives. She set an example for all of us in how to always seek the goodness in others and live a life for God, our families, and our community.
Ardelia is survived by her daughters Terri Clewlow and husband Roy, Trish Reynolds and husband Bob, Dianne Schreiber Smith and husband Ken. She was the treasured and loving grandmother of Staci, Taylor (Tasha), BreAnn, Lance, Jaime, Tanner (Ashley), and Travis. She was also great-grandmother to Maren, Callie, Cayden, Colton, Knox, Grayson, Cooper, Nash, Gage, and Jocie. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Brenda Taylor, nieces, many other dear family members and friends, including her kind and dedicated caregivers Jeannie Rose, Debbie Lovell, and Mary Hypes. She is preceded in death by her husband of nearly 70 years, George F. Schreiber, parents Harold W. Taylor and Elva B. Taylor, and brothers Fred Taylor and Burlin Taylor.
Visitation and receiving is scheduled from 5-7 pm on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at Ft. Chiswell United Methodist Church, 771 Fort Chiswell Rd., Max Meadows, VA, followed by the funeral service at 7 pm. Flowers may be sent to the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Ft.
