Barbara Ann Burkentine age 77 of Sugar Grove, VA passed away Saturday, December 30, 2023.  She was born in Grayson Co, VA on December 31, 1945 the daughter of the late Arlie Garfield Swinney and Eula Belle Ring Swinney.  Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Clettus Burkentine; sister, Betty Rosenbaum.  She was a faithful member of the Brookside Baptist Church in Sugar Grove, VA.

Surviving are her children, Sheila Hodge (Faron) of Ivanhoe, VA, Shirley Crigger of Fries, VA Mike Burkentine (Dawn) of Rural Retreat, VA, A.J. Burkentine (Dana) of Crockett, VA; grandchildren, Beth Tibbs, Logan Musser, Levi Burkentine, Paiten Burkentine, Aiden Burkentine, Easton Burkentine; great-grandchild, Addison Tibbs; brother, Bobby Swinney; sisters, Rita Goodson, Wanda Leagans, Mary Alice Shupe all of Fries, VA; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at the Lindsey Memorial Chapel with Rev. David Medley officiating.  The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. prior to the service.  A graveside committal service will follow 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at the Mountain View Cemetery.
