Barbara Teresa Bennett Guy, Age 71, of Wytheville, VA was called home to her heavenly father on September 1, 2025. She was born August 30, 1954 in Forest County, MS, daughter of Nancy Bennett and the late George Bennett.

In 1977 she married the love of her life, Byron Guy. They made a life together raising their cherished sons Mike and Chris in Mississippi and Florida and then settled in Wytheville, VA.

A great pleasure for her was becoming a grandmother to her beloved grandchildren Hayden and Madeline. Barbara loved all children. Her grandchildren and children at church affectionately called her Gigi. They could always count on a sweet treat from her. Another highlight was having a job she absolutely loved, Administrative Assistant at Sunny Hills Church.

She had a deep love and faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. During her time at Sunny Hills Church, she poured that love and faith, into many people. She had a kind, gentle spirit and always took the time to listen, help, and give people encouragement.

Barbara planned, organized, and was involved in many groups and activities, including Sonshiners, Sip and Stitch, Bible Studies, Growth Group, and Adventures in the Kitchen, where she taught young and not so young women how to cook. She was well known and admired for her exceptional baking and cooking. She loved to decorate her home from top to bottom at Christmas focusing on gingerbread men. And throughout the year the angel tree was a special focus in her life. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed making her home an inviting place for family and friends to gather.

Barbara positively impacted the lives of everyone she met. She loved her husband, family and friends dearly. She will forever be remembered for her friendliness, quickness to laugh, generous heart, strength, determination and faith.

She is survived and forever adored by her husband, Byron Guy, two sons, Mike and wife Kirstie Smith of Wytheville, Chris and wife Lori Guy of Jonesboro, TN; two grandchildren Hayden and Madeline Guy, a sister, Sharon Bennett; a brother Richard and wife Karen Bennett; other family
members, and many dear friends.

Service will be held on Saturday, September 6th at 2:00 p.m. at Sunny Hills Church, Wytheville, VA. Graveside service for immediate family following. Friends who wish to attend are welcome. Pastor Alan Wilder and Pastor Steve Taylor officiating.
