Barbara Akers Morrison, 89, passed away on Tuesday April 9, 2024, at her residence in Staunton. She was born April 10, 1934, to the late Arthur Talmage and Clara Maude Jones Akers in Ivanhoe.

She was actively involved in Lincolnia Pentecostal Holiness Church and Woodlawn Baptist Church. She was a devout Christian, and she was always eager to serve her community and the Lord through her involvement with the church.

She is survived by her sons, Kirk Dwayne Morrison, Dennis Morrison and his wife, Estela Morrison; her daughters, Teresa Morrison Matheny, and her husband, Glen Allen Matheny, and Catherine Morrison; her grandchildren, James Matheny, Erin Matheny Mahaffey and her husband, Christopher, and Bethany Morrison; and a great-grandchild, Finn Mahaffey.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Roncie Delmar Morrison, her siblings, William and Frederick Akers and Phyllis Kirby.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on April 11, 2024, at Barnett Funeral Home in Wytheville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Interment will take place at West End Cemetery immediately following the service.
