Barbara Anne Porter, age 91, of Max Meadows, VA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 10, 2018. She was born in Italy, daughter of the late Theodore Bretti and Joan Fraone Bretti and was also preceded in death by her siblings. Barbara was a loving wife and mother and kind to everyone. She especially loved God and her Catholic Faith. She will be fondly remembered as Dr. Benda's nurse. Barbara was an Avon representative for 50 years and was awarded Avon's highest award, the President's Club, several times. She was very active with the PTA and Girl Scouts when her children were growing up. Barbara started one of the first Girl Scout troops in Austinville and was a Service United Leader. She loved to bowl and participated in state tournament and leagues. Barbara is survived by her husband of 67 years,Bradford (B.B.) Porter; son, Brad and Katy Porter of Fort Chiswell, VA; two daughters, Joyce Porter Owen and Jerry of Dublin, VA, Patricia Porter Hubbard of Charles Town, WV and her special friend, R.D. Wilson; grandchildren, Kimberly Hubbard Moss and Arek, Sarah Hubbard Baker and Jym, Chad Owen and Leigh Ann, Stephen Owen, Greg Porter, Molly Lawson and Adam; great-grandchildren, Dylan Moss, Aidan Moss, Trey Baker, Grace Ann Baker and Madelyn Owen; several nieces, nephews and special friends also survive. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 13, 2018 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wytheville, VA. Interment will follow in Rosewood Memorial Gardens, Rural Retreat, VA. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 12, 2018 at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, Wytheville, VA. Reese Funeral Home, Austinville, VA is serving the Porter family.
