Bennie Edward King, age 67 of Rural Retreat, VA passed away, Friday, December 1, 2017.  He was born in Smyth Co., VA on August 31, 1950 the son of the late James Hoover King and Virginia Marie Blevins King.  Bennie loved the outdoors and had a passion for fishing.  He was preceded in death by a sister, Imogene Leonard Blevins.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Katherine D. King; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Tammy King of Barren Springs, VA; grandsons, James King and fiance', Ellie Hill and Matthew King; great-grandson, Edward "Bo" Lawrence King; uncle, Glen and Mary King of Rural Retreat; special friends, Dennis and Nancy Viars of Barren Springs; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held 7:00 P.M. Monday, December 4, 2017 at the Lindsey Memorial Chapel with Mr. Chuck Neal and Mr. Frank Yarber officiating followed by a committal service to be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at the Rosewood Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. prior to the service.  Flowers will be appreciated or memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
