Obituary

Betty Sue King Dix age 81 passed away peacefully Monday, June 26, 2017 at Carrington Place in Rural Retreat.  She was born June 2, 1936 in Huckleberry.  She was a lifelong resident of Wythe County.  She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Charles Steele Dix.  Charles and Betty owned and operated Dix Funeral Home and owned and operated the family cattle farm in Crockett.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Steele King and Willie Frazier Sult King, a sister Helda Blevins, and a grandson Thomas Aaron Whisman.  She is survived by a brother William F. "Bill" King and spouse Jackie.  She is also survived by a son and daughter-in-law Allen and Theresa Dix of Crockett, a daughter and son-in-law Missy and Wade Whisman of Grahams Forge, grandchildren who knew and loved her as "Granny," Jared Dix of Abingdon, Jenna Dix of Wytheville, Anthony Whisman and spouse Serina Whisman of Pulaski, Adam Whisman of Japan, Sarah Whisman of Grahams Forge, and Hannah Whisman of Grahams Forge.  Visitation will be at Barnett Funeral Home on Thursday, June 29, 2017 from 5-7pm with a memorial service to follow immediately after visitation with Rev. Kenny Hall officiating.  The family will receive friends at the home of her son and daughter-in-law Allen and Theresa Dix of Wyrick Spring Road of Crockett.  Barnett Funeral Home in Wytheville is in charge of the arrangements.
