Boston O'dell Hale, age 80, of Rural Retreat, VA passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2022. He was born July 24, 1941 in Wythe County, the son of the late George and Ruth Carpenter Hale. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evangeline Anderson Hale; several brothers and sisters; nephews, Wayne and Jay Dixon.

O'dell was a many-faceted man, much more than can be embodied here in a few words. He entrusts us with his legacy of wisdom. Above all, O'dell loved; hoping all he told us will be put to good use; everything from cooking with your heart and soul and how to restore your classic car. To reach out to others who might not have anyone else; sharing in the wisdom that he gave us. We are all in this together.

Survivors include two sons, Brock Hale and Corinna of Glade Spring, VA, and Steve Hale and Rhonda of Atkins, VA; one daughter, Coley Evans and Bob Owens of Rural Retreat; twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; nieces, Joyce Jenkins and Libby Redford; nephews, Chuck Hale and Shawn Dixon; great-niece, Emaleigh Ward; great nephews, Allen Redford and Nathan Dixon. A host of extended family and many special friends also survive.

There will be no services. Barnett Funeral Home, Wytheville, VA is serving the Hale family.
