Bruce Wayne Akers, age 71, of Wytheville, VA, the Piney community, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2026. He was born July 17, 1954 in Wythe County, son of the late Charles Robert and Carrie Dunford Akers.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Akers; two sisters, Lynn Akers Puckett and Elaine Thomas (Bobby); a brother, Wade Akers (Trudie); his mother-in-law, Christine Cook; sister-in-law, Dianne Cranford (Carl). Several nieces, nephews and many extended family and friends also survive.
