Carrie Lee Jones Akers, age 88, of Ivanhoe, VA passed away Sunday, February 9, 2025. She was born January 1, 1937 in Wythe County, daughter of the late Elbert Dunford and Lillian Jones Dunford. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Robert "Bob" Akers; a grandson, Shannon Johnson; a sister, Sadie King; a brother, Johnny Jones.

Survivors include two daughters, Lynn Akers of Jonesville, NC, Theresa Elaine and Bobby Thomas of Max Meadows; two sons, Bruce W. and Carolyn Akers, Wade and Trudie Akers, all of Wytheville; a sister, Kathrine and James Bryant of Max Meadow; two brothers, Ralph "Buckshot" and Diane Jones of Kernersville, NC and "Ball" Jones of Ivanhoe. Six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 14, 2025 at Reese Funeral Home with the Reverend Angel Vaughn and Matthew Akers officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
