Charles Hicks Campbell, Sr., age 83, of Ivanhoe, VA, passed away Saturday, December 16,
2017. He was born August 9, 1934 in Wythe County, VA to the late Charles Reed and Ella
Mae Pack Campbell. Charles served in the United States Army and was a member of the
United in Christ Church. He also was a lifetime member of the Ivanhoe Volunteer Fire
Department and a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Don Campbell, and two sisters, Louise
Dunford and Helen Stoots.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma Campbell; one son, Charles "Chuck" Campbell, Jr. of Galax,
VA; one daughter, Dona and Barry Blair of Ivanhoe, VA; one brother, Harlan Campbell of
Greensboro, NC; three sisters, Juanita Gibson of Charleston, SC, Marie Wojokowski of
Tidusville, FL, and Edna and Bob Bond of Kernersville, NC; four grandchildren, Matthew and
Sarah Blair, Tyler Campbell, Paul Campbell, and David Campbell; two great-grandchildren,
Adrian Blair and Kaebry Blair; a very special little girl, Karissa Cressel; several nieces and
nephews also survive.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at United in Christ
Church with Rev. Hal Lewis and Rev. Don Crockett officiating. Interment will follow in the
Odd Fellows Cemetery in Ivanhoe with the American Legion Post #9 conducting military
graveside rites. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, December
19, 2017 at the Reese Funeral Home.
