Christina May Ruhl Akers, age 89, formerly of Wytheville, VA, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2018 in Charleston, SC. She was born September 15, 1928 in Baltimore, MD, daughter of the late Charles August Ruhl and Christina Gurney Ruhl. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Solomon Akers; son, Randy Akers and three brothers, Frank, Buck and Bob Ruhl. Christina was a member of Petunia Christian Church. She is survived by her children, Susan Rogers of Hendersonville, NC, Paul Akers of Fredericksburg, VA and Dan Akers of Charleston, SC; Two grandchildren, Paul Akers, Jr. and David Akers; Five great-grandchildren, Andrew, Ryan, Taylor, Cheyanne and Madysen; Several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the Barnett Funeral Home with the Reverend Dennis Martin officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday one hour before service time. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Meadowridge Memorial Park, Elkridge, Maryland. Barnett Funeral Home, Wytheville, VA is serving the Akers family.
