Clara Belle Sage Hodge, 94, of Rural Retreat, Va went home to be with her heavenly father on Thursday, June 26, 2025. She was born in Groseclose, Va on November 5, 1930 to the late Ernest Freel Sage and Geneva Kate Horne Sage. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years Wallace Reed Hodge, sisters Maude Clyburn, Lorina Hackler, Lois Sage Robinson, brother Junior Sage. She graduated from Rural Retreat High School Class of 1949. She was a lifetime member of the Fairview United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her children and spouses, Darrell Hodge, Lavada Hampton and Stephen, Brenda Maxey and Rodney all of Rural Retreat, VA., Jeff Hodge and Dawn of Wytheville, VA., and Randall Hodge of Greensboro, NC.; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren;  siblings Lauretta and June Smith, Porter Sage all of Rural Retreat, VA., Nina Blessing of Wytheville, VA., also many special nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday June 29, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. at the Lindsey Funeral Home with Reverend Richard Gregory officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. prior to the service.
Serving as pallbearers, Lance Short, Craig Maxey, Shane Short, Micheal Hodge, Nathan Short, and Ryan Lyall.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Rural Retreat Volunteer Fire Department.
