Claude Calvin Brooks, Jr., age 77, of Wytheville, VA passed away Monday, March 3, 2025. He was born June 24, 1947 in Smyth County, the son of the late Claude Brooks, Sr. and Alice Fortner Brooks. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Ann Hubbard Brooks.

Claude was a marksman, fisherman and guide. He was the Band Director at Wythe County Schools and surrounding areas for many years. He was respected and much loved by his students, faculty and staff. Claude was a charter member of the Wytheville Community College  Band.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Brooks; a son, Christopher Claude Brooks of Fairmont, WV; a daughter, Susan Dawn Brooks-Woods of Bristol, VA; step-children, Chris Alderman of Wythe County and Lori Alderman of Wytheville; granddaughter, Dema Woods-Ray; one great-grandchild and four step-grandchildren. Several special cousins also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 8, 2025 at St. Paul United Methodist Church with  Reverend Larry Ousley and Reverend Misty McCreary officiating.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church. Private burial will be in Comers Creek Church Cemetery in Smyth County.
