Courtney Daphene Pickett Tate, age 35, of Ivanhoe, VA passed away on March 30, 2024. She struggled with life-long heart problems and several chronic illnesses. She was her mother's world. Those that knew Courtney loved her. Her smile was contagious.

Courtney was born March 3, 1989. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Freddie L. Weatherman and James Pickett.

Those left to carry on without her include her life partner of 17 years, Gary Tate; her devoted mother, Leeanne Deel and step-dad, Joseph Deel; her father, Darrell Pickett and Kim; her maternal grandmother, Virginia Poole Weatherman; special aunt, Sammi Weatherman Thomas; her paternal grandparents, Albert and Delina Armbrister and grandmother, Treva Pickett; brother, Zachary Pickett and Dakota; very special sister, Taylor Lynn Pickett; brother, Samuel Pickett; two step-brothers, Joey Deel and Austin Deel; her mother-in-law, Donna Tate and father-in-law, Danny Cartwright; sister-in-law, Karista Tate. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; also, special and best friend, Amber Burnett.

This world will be a little less bright without her in it. She had a beautiful heart and through all of her health issues she continued to smile. Heaven truly gained an angel.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2024 at the Reese Funeral Home with the Reverend Hal Lewis and Reverend Shirley Keene officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Community Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday, April 4th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
