Darlene B. Smith

Darlene B. Smith age 78 of Rural Retreat, VA passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at her home. She was born in Smyth Co., VA on June 11, 1948 the daughter of the late Frank William Blessing and Nina Gray Sage Blessing. Darlene was a member of the New Bethel Community Church and was preceded in death by a son, William Kelton “W.K.” Smith, III.

Surviving are her husband of 56 years, W.K. “Buddy” Smith, Jr.; daughter, Sondra Crigger and husband David; granddaughter, Montana Monahan; step-grandson, David Crigger, Jr.; step-great-grandchildren, Levi Crigger, Landrie Crigger; siblings, Donna and Don Catron, Doris Jones, Eddie and Drema Blessing; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 20, 2026 at the Lindsey Memorial Chapel with Pastor Stephen Cornett and Preacher Billy Carty officiating. Interment will follow in the New Bethel Community Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the New Bethel Community Church Cemetery Fund.
