David Lee Akers

David Lee Akers, age 66, of Wytheville, VA (the Piney community) passed away Thursday, July 9, 2026. He was born September 21, 1959 in Delaware, son of the late Elwood and Mazie Sumner Akers. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jerry Akers and Joe Akers.

Survivors include his wife, Lynn Arnold Akers of the home; sister-in-law, Jenny and her husband Michael Rose of Austinville; niece, Jennifer and husband Chad Morehead of Bland; great-nieces, Shianne Morehead and Crystal Akers; great-nephews, Thad Morehead and J.J. Akers; cousins, Trish Flemming and Nathan Felts. Many extended family and close friends also survive.

Per David’s wishes, there will be no services. Reese Funeral Home, Austinville, VA is serving the Akers family.
