Dennis Delane Payne age 68 of Max Meadows VA departed his earthly dwelling to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday May 21, 2023.

Dennis retired from Volvo Heavy Truck Plant after 33 years of service. He enjoyed his retirement by working the family farm, tending cattle and periodically kicking uncooperative hay equipment. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all he enjoyed chatting with & cracking jokes with family, neighbors & friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Walter Hasten Payne, his twin brother Walter Wayne Payne and his sister-in-law Angela Delilah Payne.

Dennis is survived by his mother, Marie P Payne; his wife of 50 years, Janet L Payne; his daughter and son-in-law, Andrea & Keith Repass; niece and spouse, Myra and Adam Edwards; special great nephew, Kindal Edwards; aunt, Ninna Smith; special cousin and friend, Everett Mabry. Lots of special cousins, neighbors and friends also survive.

The family will receive friends at the Reese Funeral Home in Austinville VA Friday May 26, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday May 27, 2023 at 1:00 PM at the Reese Funeral Home with Rev W. Keith Repass officiating, burial will follow in the Charity Community Cemetery.

Although flowers will be appreciated, those who prefer may make memorial donations to the charity of their choice.
