Donald Wayne Widner Jr, 53, of Ivanhoe VA, passed away Friday, July 19, 2024. Born March 9, 1971 in Decatur Al, he was the son of Donald Wayne Widner Sr. and Sarah Jane Pickett Goodson.
He loved Alabama Football. He devoted his life to his community; He was the first Wythe County volunteer paramedic, serving his community in many capacities including a paramedic and a firefighter. He was a devoted family man who loved his wife, children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters very much. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making others laugh.
He was preceded in death by stepfather, Norman "Poko" Goodson and step-mother, Peggy Waits Widner.
Survivors include his wife, Toni Widner of the home; mother, Sarah Pickett Goodson of Ivanhoe VA; father, Donald Wayne Widner Sr. and wife Terri of Decatur AL; daughter, Kayla Spencer and husband Jimmy of Wytheville VA; step daughter, Haleigh Surratt of Max Meadows VA; step son, Brayden Dean of Ivanhoe VA; two brothers, Steve Widner of Dublin VA, Jason Goodson and wife Ashley, of Ivanhoe VA; seven sisters, Kim Johnson Shelton and husband Bobby of Madison AL, Cindy Kennedy of Decatur AL, Madison Widner of Hartselle AL, Selinda Gregory and husband Jason "Skillet" of Max Meadows VA, Brandi Bass and husband Mark of Wytheville VA, Allison Shirley and husband Dusty of Decatur AL; seven grandchildren, Kohl Grubb, Bryson Spencer, Ellie Grubb, Holden Surratt, Hunter Surratt, Presley Spencer, Paisley Spencer; sisters-in-law, Dana Brunner and husband Paul of Speedwell VA; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family; many friends whom he considered family.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at 2 P.M. at the Barnett Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Ingo officiating. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Ivanhoe, VA. Members of Wythe County Emergency Services will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at Barnett Funeral Home.
