Dorothy "Dottie" Jean Nelson, age 67, of Bland County, VA passed away Friday, May 16, 2025. She was born December 23, 1957 in Bland County, daughter of the late Levi and Louise Goins Nelson. She was preceded in death by her brother, Lewis Shawn Nelson.

Survivors include her sister-in-law, Diane Nelson; nephews, Jeremy and Grace Nelson, Dakoda Harris and Allen Wood; nieces, Alyssa and Jonathan Nelson, Liz Sweet and Kiel Parker, Marie and Luke Gibson; great-nephews, Shawn Nelson, Owen Gibson and Cooper Gibson; great-niece, Lily Parker; caregivers and special friends, Shelby Taylor and Pearl Belcher. Many extended family and friends also survive.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at Bastian Church of God with the Reverend Cliff Bowman officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before service time at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Highland Bland Funeral Chapel to assist the family with funeral expenses. Highland Bland Funeral Chapel, Bland, VA is serving the Nelson family.
