Dusty Dianna Neel age 70 of Ceres VA passed away peacefully with her family by her side Friday August 23, 2024. She was born February 3, 1954 in Bland County VA the daughter of the late John Trubie and Anna Ruth Durham Neel Sr. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents J.O. & Myrtle Maie Vencille Durham and a brother, John Trubie Neel Jr.

Born and raised in Bland County, Dusty spent a lot of time outside, playing with friends/cousins, and her beloved pony named "Fury." Her deep love for nature and animals was a constant source of solace throughout her life.

Dusty's life was defined by extraordinary resilience and selflessness. As a young woman, she left college early, started a Medicaid taxi service, became a caregiver to her ailing mother and grandmother, while she also welcomed her newborn daughter, Ashley, into the world. At one point, there were four generations of women living under the same roof.

To support her family, Dusty worked as a Medicaid taxi driver to provide essential transportation in the community for doctors' visits. She worked hard to help others, and took pride in doing so.

Dusty was a mother above all else in her life. Her love and guidance helped shape her daughter into the person she is today.

Outside of her family and work life - Dusty enjoyed creating oil paintings, and was a naturally gifted artist. Some of her beautiful paintings have been displayed in local churches around the area. She also enjoyed flower gardening and was known for her bright orange poppies and other unique flowers.

Dusty's legacy is one of strength, compassion, determination, and appreciation for the world around her. Her memory will be deeply cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Dusty is survived by h er daughter, Ashley Ann Neel & Jason McClellan of Blacksburg VA; a close cousin, Arlene Bland. Many extended family and friends also survive.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday August 27, 2024 at the Bland Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:00 noon until service time. Burial will follow in the Bethany Church Cemetery in Ceres VA.
