Obituary

Elbert Mason "Zan" Jackson, Jr., age 72, of Max Meadows, VA passed away Thursday, January 5, 2017. He was born July 26, 1944 in Wythe County, the son of the late Elbert McKinley Jackson, Sr. and Blanche Bralley Jackson and was preceded in death by two brothers, Sherman Jackson and Bill Jackson.  He was a member of Fort Chiswell United Methodist Church where he also served as a lay speaker.  He served as a home-bound teacher with the Wythe County School system and was retired from Rohm-Haas.  He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Becky Corvin Jackson; children and grandchildren, Kim and Eddie Dix of Wytheville, VA, Mike and Tammi Jackson and Emily of Radford, VA, Tracy Doyle, Eli and Luke of South Hill, VA, Eric and Erin Jackson of Fort Chiswell, VA; brother, Malcolm and Pat Jackson of Wytheville, VA; sisters, Sidney and Jim Bolash of Fort Chiswell, VA and Phyllis Umberger of Fort Chiswell, VA; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 8, 2017 at the Barnett Funeral Chapel with the Reverend Rick Lindamood and Reverend Rosa Slavik officiating.

Interment will follow in West End Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 12:00 noon until service time at the funeral home. The family suggests that those who prefer may make memorial donations to the charity of one's choice.
