Elizabeth Magdalene Russell, age 93, of Austinville, VA passed away peacefully in her home Thursday, April 20, 2017, surrounded by family. She was the daughter of the late John Henry and Ida Gravley Burnette of Max Meadows. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years, Clarence W. Russell, Sr. who passed away April 5, 2017, fifteen days prior to her death; two brothers and one sister.

Elizabeth was a member of the Austinville Pentecostal Holiness Church where she was active throughout the years with the Women Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Lead Mines Senior Citizens. She retired from the Wythe County Public School System working in the cafeteria for many years. Her nature of love and caring for children was evident in her daily activities and was dearly loved by all. She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Joyce and John Martin of Austinville, VA, C.W. and DeeDee Russell of Grahams Forge, VA, Penni and Ray Rowsey of Austinville, VA; six grandchildren, Tim Martin, Jeff Martin, Matthew Montgomery, Brittney Montgomery, April Lovern and Philip Russell; nine great- grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, April 23, 2017 at the Austinville Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Reverend John Jenkins officiating.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until service time at the church.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, April 24 at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin, VA.
