Ellwood Ballard Groseclose, age 93, of Ivanhoe, VA passed away Monday, January 16, 2017. He was born February 16, 1923 in Wythe County, the son of the late Marvin Carley Groseclose and Martha Lawson Groseclose and was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Geneva Taylor Groseclose; two brothers and three sisters. Ellwood was a member of Forrest United Methodist Church in Ivanhoe, he was a WWII army Air Corp Veteran where he served as a tail gunner in a B24 Plane and was a member of the Grover King Post #1115 VFW. Ellwood was a 32nd degree Mason, he was a member of and Past Master of the Ivanhoe Masonic Lodge #235 AF & AM and he was a member of Ivanhoe Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge # 173. Ellwood retired as Post Master for the US Post Office in Ivanhoe VA, a position to which he was appointed by President Eisenhower.  He is survived by three sons, Chip and Judy Groseclose of Pilot, VA, Wayne and Linda Groseclose of Ivanhoe and Michael Ellwood Groseclose of Ivanhoe. Several grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.  Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the Reese Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery. Grover King Post # 1115 VFW will conduct graveside military rites. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.   Reese Funeral Home, Austinville, VA is serving the Groseclose family.
