Elmer Brown Alderman, age 80, of Barren Springs, VA, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2017.  He was born January 16, 1937 in Hiwassee, VA of Pulaski County, the son of the late Oscar Heath and Amanda "Hodge" Alderman.  He was preceded in death by three brothers, William Heath Alderman, Robert Thomas Alderman, and Raby Junior Alderman; a sister-in-law, Louise Dalton Alderman and a brother-in-law, Tom Sutphin.  Elmer was a long time member of the Riverview Church of God and logged 39 years with VDOT without a chargeable accident.

Elmer is survived by his wife of 61 years, Evelyn Lee Alderman of the Home; three sons, Elmer and Doris Alderman of Barren Springs, VA, Joe Alderman and Paula Underwood of Barren Springs, VA, and Bobby Lewis Alderman of Allisonia, VA;  one daughter, Janet and Mark Spencer of Christiansburg, VA; three special sisters-in-law, Carol Huff Alderman, Alice French, and Matilda Alderman; three brothers, Everett Alderman of Barren Springs, VA, Charles and Trula Alderman of Dublin, VA, and George and Christine Alderman of Barren Springs, VA; six sisters, Myrtle Sutphin of Pulaski, VA, Anna Bell Gilbert Riggins of Richmond, VA, India Lou and Clinton Beasley of Max Meadows, VA, Ruby Quesenberry of Barren Springs, VA, Barbara and Bruce Hagy of Ridgeway, VA, and Carol and David Allison of Dyke, VA;  10 Grandchildren and 9 Great-grandchildren.  Several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, September 30, 2017 at the Riverview Church of God with the Reverend Eddie Dalton, Reverend David Allison, and Reverend Bruce Hagy officiating.  Interment will follow in the Alderman Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Friday, September 29, 2017 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 PM at the church.
