Emmett Ward Cressell, age 88, of Elk Creek, VA passed away Sunday, January 1, 2023.  He was born in Pulaski County, VA. on November 1, 1934 the son of the late Rufus Ward Cressell and Alice Bane Cressell.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Robert and Erskine Cressell and one sister Virginia Mayberry.

He was a veteran of the US Airforce.  Emmett liked to hunt, fish and camp out. He was a farmer. He loved his cows.

Surviving are his wife Wilma Cressell of Elk Creek, VA; sons Philip Cressell and wife Kayla of Elk Creek, VA and Emmett Cressell Jr.; daughters Cindy McFarland and husband Dennis of Bristol, VA and Patti Grubb and husband Randy of Fries, VA; Several Grandchildren; Several Great Grandchildren; and Several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 Noon, Thursday, January 5, 2023 at the Lindsey Memorial Chapel with Pastor Matt Linkous officiating.  Military graveside rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 229 of Rural Retreat and the Honor Guard from Seymour Johnson Air Force Base , North Carolina, burial will follow in the Blue Springs Cemetery in Rural Retreat, VA.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon prior to the service.
