Eska Mae Burnett York, age 96, of Barren Springs, VA passed away Saturday, April 9, 2022. She was born August 22, 1925 in Carroll County, daughter of the late Norman Lester and Vadie Viola Harmon Burnett. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Albert Alvin York; 3 sons, Abner J York, Tim Terry York and Tam Larry York; a daughter, Diane Mae Branscome; a granddaughter, Nilsa Suszanna York; 3 brothers, Clyde Burnett, Kincey Burnett and Clarence Burnett; 4 sisters, Icy Payne, Lena Bell, Thelma Baker and Hazel York.

Eska was a 30 year member of the Barren Springs Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Pine Grove Primitive Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Patty Marshall of Barren Springs; son, Rock and Teresa York of Barren Springs; a sister, Rosa Felts of Hillsville, VA; 2 brothers, Lonnie Burnett of Barren Springs and Buford Burnett of Austinville, VA; 5 grandchildren, Michelle, Steven, Anesha, David and Adanna; 11 great-grandchildren, Chloe, Ty, Skylar, Grayson, Kynley, Maeley, Colton, Avaley, Abigail, Lexi and Alyssa. Several nieces, nephews and many extended family and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 14, 2022 at the Reese Funeral Home with the Reverend Nathan Burnett officiating.

Interment will follow in the Black Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 13 ^th at the funeral home.
