Eugene Harold Buck, 83, of Rural Retreat VA, (Groseclose community) passed away, Thursday, October 10, 2024.

Born, December 13, 1940, in Smyth County VA, he was the son of the late Fred Vance and Ollie Golden Widener Buck.

He was the "best" heavy equipment operator with 50 years' experience. He loved fishing and spending time outdoors. He was a good family man with a kind soul who loved his kids, grandkids, and great grand kids. Gene had many friends, and was kind to any strangers he met. He always welcomed you with a kind word and he gave the best hugs.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Buck

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Gale Buck, son David Buck (Jill), step children, Venitia Funk (Bill), Charlie Buck Jr (Robin), Tim Buck (Kathy), siblings, Charlie Buck Sr (Donna), Frank Buck, Evelyn Buck, Randall Buck, Jerry Buck, grandchildren, Aaron, Madison, Jessica, Devan, Chad, great grandchildren, Archer, Rhett, and Whitley, and several Nieces and Nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted, Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 1 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Groseclose with Pastors Matthew Poitt, and Todd Porter officiating. Friends and Family will serve as pallbearers.
