Florence Safewright Mills, age 93, of Wytheville, VA passed away peacefully at her home Sunday, June 22, 2025. She was the daughter of the late James Edward Daugherty and Sallie Pannell Daugherty. Florence was preceded in death by her two husbands, James S. Safewright and Jack D. Mills; her son, Gary Safewright and grandson, Erik Safewright.

Survivors include her daughter, Reta Buchanan, granddaughter Deborah Buchanan, great-grandson Steven Lane Brown and Ameranda Powers, great-great-grandson Atlas Lane Brown; daughter, Shirley and Gary Poole, grandson Terry Davis, great-grandson Dylan Davis, step-granddaughter Cindy Jones (Eric) and step-grandson Wesley Poole (Andrea); brother, Clyde Daugherty and Doris; special family friend and caregiver, Emilie Blackwell.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at the Barnett Funeral Home with the Reverend Jonathan Hamman officiating. Burial will follow in Rosewood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour before service time.
