Frances Louise Cregger Cornett, age 72, of Rural Retreat, VA passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2017. She was born July 27, 1944 in Wythe County, the daughter of the late Gordon Friel Cregger and Aileen Osborne Cregger.  She was preceded in death by a grandson, Johnathon Cornett; three sisters, Eva Cregger, Jessie Crowder and Jean Kitts; three brothers, William Cregger, Friel Cregger and Wayne Cregger. Frances attended Jackson Chapel. She is survived by her husband, W.L. Cornett; four daughters, Robin and David Osborne of Wytheville, VA, Mary Jane and Jay Rupe of Rural Retreat, Sherry and Tim Mitchell of Rural Retreat, Peggy and Gerald Clemmons of Bland, VA; nine grandchildren, Casey and Parrisa Rupe, Nikki Cornett, Justin Turpin, Brooke Cornett, Marah Stroupe, T.J. Mitchell, Garrett Akers, Harley Mitchell, Courtney Rupe; nine great grandchildren, Autumn and Channing Delp, Shy and Bently Turpin, Talon Mitchell, Ayden McCullen, Colton, Dakota and Alex Cornett; b rother, George Thomas "Tommy" and Jackie Cregger of Austinville, VA; sisters-in-law, Nancy Cregger of Wytheville, VA and Nancy Ruth Cregger of Rural Retreat, VA; s everal nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 15, 2017 at the Barnett Funeral Chapel with the Reverend Sonny Ayers and Pastor Charlie Henderson officiating. Interment will follow in Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home or at the home of Jay and Mary Jane Rupe, 370 Rural Retreat Lake Road, Rural Retreat, VA.
