Freda Carolyn McCroskey, age 72, of Max Meadows, VA passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2017. She was born October 31, 1944, the daughter of the late Fred Robert Dunford and Ella Ruth Walker Dunford and was preceded in death by two brothers, Bernard Dunford and Barnett Dunford.  She is survived by her husband, Thomas W. McCroskey; two daughters, Angela and Buddy Morse of Madison, VA, Bobbie and Steve Griggs of Pembroke, VA; step-son, Jason McCroskey and his partner Preston Gordon of Narrows, VA; two grandchildren, Robert Conley and Melissa Spicer; two great grandchildren, Scarlett Conley and Melody St.Clair; sister, Marlene and Dana Jonas of Wytheville, VA.

Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, January 5, 2017 at the Barnett Funeral Home with the Reverend Sonny Ayers officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
