Garland "Sonny" Austin, age 72, of Max Meadows, VA passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2025. He was born October 31, 1952 in Pulaski, VA, the son of the late Herbert Cecil Austin and Betty Webb Austin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Drema Stoneman and a brother, Terry Austin.

Survivors include two daughters, Trina and B.G. Felts of Wytheville, Shauna Scott and Steven Crowder of Max Meadows; a son, Shannon and Michelle Austin of Galax, VA; two grandchildren, Isaac Felts and Laken Crowder; several nieces and nephews. Many extended family, friends and close neighbors also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, February 10, 2025 at Reese Funeral Home with the Reverend Eddie Frye officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until service time. Burial will follow in West End Cemetery.
