George Thomas Dickens, age 89, of Max Meadows, VA passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2018.  He was born February 11, 1929 in Wythe County, the son of the late Allen Derrick Dickens and Eula Martin Dickens. He was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Holston. George was a United States Army veteran and a member of Fort Chiswell United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nadene Blair Dickens; Sons,Thomas Dickens and Gina of Houston, TX, Barry Dickens and Sherri of Max Meadows, VA; Grandchildren, David Dickens and Marrisa, Brittany Smith and Michael; Great grandchildren, Owen, Eliza and Ryder; Sister, Sara Dickens of Wytheville, VA; Nephew, Dean Holston of Barren Springs, VA. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 18, 2018 at the Barnett Funeral Home with the Reverend Bill Shupe officiating. Interment will follow in West End Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Flowers will be appreciated or memorial donations may be made to Fort Chiswell United Methodist Church or the charity of one's choice.
