Reasor
October 18, 1933 – June 28, 2025
George Franklin Reasor, 91, of Rural Retreat, VA passed away Saturday, June 28, 2025. He was born on October 18, 1933 in the Seminary Community of Lee County, VA. Frank was the son of the late George C. Reasor and Nell Fletcher Reasor. He was preceded in death by his first wife Carol Grizzle Reasor, sister Patty Hobbs, brother-in-law Charlie Cox, and nephew Andy Cox.
Frank was a 1956 graduate of Virginia Tech and served two years in the U.S. Army in Japan. After his military service he had a distinguished career with the U.S. Department of Agriculture for 33 years with the Farmers Home Administration which brought him to Wythe County in 1962. He also pursued his love of agriculture on the family farm where he raised beef cattle. Frank was a member of Rural Retreat United Methodist Church for 55 years which he served in several capacities as treasurer, member of the administrative board, and a member of the choir. He was also was active with the Rural Retreat Lions Club for several years.
Survivors include his wife Sandra P. Reasor of the home; sons George F. Reasor, Jr. and wife Jennifer of Columbia, SC and Joseph P. Reasor and wife Kay of Crockett, VA; sisters Mary Grace Groseclose and husband Pete of Waynesboro, VA, Gail Brown and husband Jerry of Church Hill, TN, and Judy Barker and husband Mike of Piney Flats, TN, brothers-in-law Aubrey Hobbs of Big Stone Gap, VA and Stephen Palmer of Kingsport, TN, grandchildren Luke Reasor and wife Morganne, Eric Reasor and wife Samantha, Virginia Jones and husband Mike, and Emily Zwirner and husband Keiran; great-grandchildren Ryanne Reasor, Sidney Reasor, Lillian Reasor, Sadie Jones, and Allison Jones ; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at the Rural Retreat United Methodist Church with Rev. David Payne officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. prior to the service. Graveside services will be at the Mountain View cemetery following the funeral services. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Rural Retreat Volunteer Emergency Services and/or Rural Retreat United Methodist Church. They would also like to thank staff of the Senior Home Share at 660 Rolling Hills Drive, Wytheville, VA for
their dedicated and compassionate care of Frank.
