Glorena "Gee" Hazel Hancock Schwonke, 93, of Fort Wayne, Indiana went home, peacefully in her sleep, to be with Our Lord on November 16 ^th 2022. Gee was born July 6 ^th , 1929, to the late Charles Sheffey and Lessie Hazel Hancock of Bland, VA. Throughout her life Gee was the "life of the party" and loved by many. Gee never met a stranger and was always willing to "adopt" new family members; most who lovingly called her "Grandma Gee". Gee was preceded in death by her loving parents, three brothers William, Andrew, and Ronald Hancock, one sister Elizabeth Lambert, a devoted husband William A. Schwonke, a stepdaughter Gail Wonderly, several cousins, and other loved family members. Left to cherish her memory is a stepson, William Same of Fort Wayne, IN; stepdaughter-in-law Mary Kay Same of Fort Wayne, IN; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and many nieces as well as nephews; three godchildren Seth and Michelle Farmer as well as Matthew Cantrell all of Bastian, VA; several cousins, special friends, and other treasured, adopted family. The family would like to thank Saint Anne's Communities in Fort Wayne, IN for their care of Gee in her final years. The family will receive visitors at Bland Highland Funeral Chapel in Bland, VA on Sunday November 20 ^th from 3 pm to 5 pm. Funeral services will be held Monday at noon at the Bland Highland Funeral Chapel with calling one hour prior to services; Pastor Jack Richards presiding. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a local rescue squad or charity of donor's choice. Highland Bland Funeral Chapel, Bland, VA is serving the Schwonke family.
