Guy F. Boone passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, June 25 with his loving wife, two daughters and several other family members by his side.

Guy was a devoted husband, father, papa, brother, and friend. For 53 wonderful years, he shared a beautiful marriage with the love of his life, Jamie. Together, they built a life rooted in unwavering love, faith, laughter, and dedication to one another. Their marriage was a testament to enduring commitment and the strength found in walking through life’s joys and challenges hand in hand.

Guy was known for his kindness, integrity, strength, humor and generous spirit. Whether spending time with family, helping a neighbor, or pursuing his favorite hobbies, such as fishing and hunting, he touched the lives of those around him with warmth and compassion. This overflowed into his classroom where he taught for 19 years at Rocky Gap/Bland County High School, making lasting impressions on numerous students.

Guy will be deeply missed by his wife, Jamie; his daughters, Holly and Sara; his “sons” Matthew Menzel and David Maxey, his four grandchildren, Grace, Tyler, Jada & Drew, who were his pride and joy; his future “son” JB Lambert; his siblings, nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. He also shared a special bond with his devoted beagle, BooAnn, who was never far from his side.

Guy was born on October 20, 1952 in Pocahontas, Virginia. He was the youngest of Carl and Lena Boone’s seven children - Gayle (James) Tomberlin, the late Mae (Jack, deceased) Cuniff, Carl “Sonny” (Diana) Boone, Rita (Butch) Belcher, JD (Shirley) Boone, and JoAnn (Raymond “Skeezie”, deceased) Poszich. Guy loved being the baby of his family. He was a proud coal miner, worked at Radford Arsenal, and then found his true passion in becoming a teacher.

Though his presence will be deeply missed, his legacy lives on in the love he shared, the family he treasured, and the countless lives he influenced. His example reminds us that a life well lived is measured not only by years, but by the love we give and the memories we leave behind.

The family wishes to say a special thank you to the doctors and nurses, especially those in the CCU, at WVU Medicine Princeton Community Hospital, who provided compassionate care to Guy and the entire family. They made it possible for the family to honor Guy’s wishes of passing in his home.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, June 28th from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm in the gymnasium at Bland County High School followed by a brief Service of Remembrance. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the “Guy Boone Scholarship Fund” set up with First Sentinel Bank, PO Box 477 Bland, VA 24315.

Guy showed everyone that true strength isn’t measured by words but by the way you love, protect, and care for those around you. Whether he was offering a helping hand, sharing a laugh, or simply being present; he made people feel safe, valued, and deeply loved.
