Hal Robinson Porterfield, Jr., age 73, of Wytheville, VA passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2017. He was born January 24, 1944 in Wythe County, the son of the late Hal Porterfield, Sr. and Edith Porter Porterfield. Hal was a veteran of the United States Navy . He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Shelton Porterfield; daughter, Heather Porterfield Rowe of Wytheville, VA; grandchildren , Taylor Rowe and Dylan Rowe; sister, Bonnie Porterfield Terry of Wytheville, VA. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, November 18, 2017 at the Barnett Funeral Home with the Reverend Joe Carrico officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 12:00 noon Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Dublin, VA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wytheville Recreation Center for Youth Sports.
