Hoover Smith, age 83, passed away Thursday, November 7, 2024.  He was born in Pikeville, KY on July 22, 1941, the son of the late Henry Smith and Myrtle Taylor Smith.

Hoover was a retired Coalminer. He was an avid hunter and fisherman; he loved being outdoors and with his dogs. He was a wonderful Husband and Father. He was so very loved by all his family and friends. Hoover was a character and loved to make people laugh, right up to the end as he had one last laugh even on his death bed. He loved God, and was a good Christian man.

He is survived by his loving wife Sharon Smith, sons Brian Smith and Alison Yu of West Virginia, and Major Dr. Christopher Hoover Smith of England; daughter Dana Howell and fiancé Jeff King of Wytheville, VA; grandchildren Brian Smith Jr., Maya Smith Shoaf, Kayla Gravley, and Kyle Gravley; great grandchildren Gracie Shoaf, Atticus Shoaf and Henry Smith.

To honor Hoover's wishes he has been cremated, there will be no funeral service.
