Jack Atkins Widner, age 87, of Rural Retreat, VA. passed away Monday, August 25, 2025. He was born in Wythe County, VA. on September 18, 1937, he was the son of the late William Widner and Theora Atkins. Preceding him in death is his first wife Mary Anne Poole Widner, and second wife June Dunford Widner.  Jack was a member of the Sharon Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.

Survived by his sons, Jack "Allen" Widner and wife Janice Miller Widner, Kevin Bain Widner and wife Amy Musser Widner; daughter Denise Widner King; grandchildren Lauren, Alex and Katie Widner, Liz, Emily and Kassidy Widner, Jason King, Cierra King Pike and husband David Pike; great grandchildren Jasper Solomon Pike, Jameson Pike; several nieces and nephews, and other extended family.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, August 28, 2025, at the Lindsey Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Rutherford officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. prior to the service.  Interment to follow at the Rosewood Memorial Gardens with Military rites being conducted by American Legion Post # 229 of Rural Retreat.
