Jackie “Jack” Brooks Weaver, a prominent business man, lifelong learner, and beloved resident of Rural Retreat, Virginia passed away on June 5, 2026, at the age of 89.

Jack was born on the Weaver farm in Rural Retreat on December 11, 1936 to the late John Frank Weaver and Eva Mae Brooks Weaver. He grew up in the community he loved, graduating from Rural Retreat High School with the class of 1953. Driven by the desire of knowledge he went on to attend the University of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia.

In his early life, Jack gained experience working many different jobs. His natural drive and ambition ultimately led him down the path to become an entrepreneur, starting his own business, Shenandoah Designs International, Inc. which was founded in 1990. As a highly successful business owner and local property investor, he managed the business and other properties for two decades until retiring in 2010.

After living in North Carolina for many years, the pull of home brought Jack back to his roots, where he spent his later years residing on some of the generational original Weaver property.

Jack was a genuinely interesting person who possessed an insatiable curiosity about the world. An avid reader, he consumed books on all kinds of subjects and became remarkably

Knowledgeable in everything he read and did. He also had a deep appreciation for history and craftsmanship, spending much of his free time collecting antiques.

To know Jack was to know a man who truly never met a stranger. He loved meeting new people and had a rare gift for conversation. Blessed with a sharp mind, he would frequently crack a joke to someone he had just met, adding to the hundreds of jokes he shared daily with friends and family. Jack will always be remembered for being exceptionally quick witted, with endless humor, and his deep affection and love that he had for “his Rosie girl” along with the love that he had for his two cats, Crockett and Gracie. Jack was a true gentleman.

Jack was preceded in death by his mother and father.

Surviving is his wife, Rose Weaver, his three daughters Susana Cates (Ronnie) of High Point NC, Julia Weaver of Myrtle Beach SC, and Diane Wilson (Allan) of Winston Salem, NC.

Three grandchildren Sophie Cates, Jessi Wilson, and Casey Wilson.

Two great grandchildren Cale Wilson and Lilah Wilson.
