James Buford Dunford

James Buford Dunford, age 80, of Max Meadows, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 20, 2026. He was born in Wythe County, Va on March 28, 1946 to the late James Sterling Dunford and Bertha Dean Dunford. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Brenda Joyce Dunford; his parents, James Sterling and Bertha Dunford; his sisters, Minnie Freeman, Janice Rogers, Mildred Edwards, and Wanda Smith; and his brothers, Albert Dunford, Lee Roy Dunford, Gary Dunford, and Kenneth Dunford. His love, his presence, his stories, his smile, and all the precious memories he gave to those around him will forever live in their hearts.

He is survived by his son, James "Jamie" Dunford Jr.; his daughter, Vickie Burnett and husband Jon; his brother, Ronnie Dunford and wife Trish; five grandchildren, Brittany Gallimore, Chasidy Porter, Edrieanna and Hunter Wilson, Hanna Dunford, Miranda Dunford; five great-grandchildren, Jase Gallimore, Daelyn Arrington, Carson Sennett, Gracie Arrington, and Isla Wilson; and Several Nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 24, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Home, conducted by Pastor Donald Knight. Interment will follow in Jones Cemetery in Gunton Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until service time Thursday, September 24, 2026 at the Barnett Funeral Home.
