Dr. James A. Henley Jr, 69, of Soddy Daisy, TN, passed away Monday, October 10, 2022.  He was born and raised in Wythe County, and is preceded in death by his parents, James Alfred Henley and Eva Wayve Henley and fiancé, Betty Cromer of Radford, VA. Survivors include his Aunt Mary Lou Combs (Paul) and Uncle Ronnie Osborne of Abingdon, VA. He is also survived by several cousins.

Dr. James Henley retired after dedicating 39 years in higher education.  He was a Professor of Marketing for 27 years at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.  Dr. Henley also taught for 3 years at Mississippi State University, 5 years at Radford University, 1 year at Pfeiffer College, and 3 years at Southside Virginia Community College.  Dr. Henley held a Doctor of Business Administration from Mississippi State University where he majored in Marketing; an MBA from the College of William and Mary; and a Bachelor of Science in Management from Radford College.

Dr. Henley "Jim" loved his family and friends. Whether it was traveling to the beach with his large family or watching his favorite football teams on TV with friends, everyone knew how much he appreciated his time spent with them.

Visitation will be held Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Barnett Funeral Home from 1-2 pm with the service starting at 2.  Graveside will immediately follow the service.
