James Jonathan King Sr., son of the late Mayo Mack King and Gracie Myrtle Davis, was born June 10, 1938 in Bluefield, WV. He was a graduate of Bluefield High School and Bluefield State University. He was united in holy matrimony to Linda K. Mitchell on April 16, 1960. The union was blessed with four children. He departed this life on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at his home in Rural Retreat. His wife Linda, son Matthew Brian King, daughter Kimberly Ann King, sisters Helen, Clarice, Stella, Jean and one brother Mayo King preceded him in death.
His life will forever be cherished in the lives of his children: James J. (Jim Jon) King Jr. and wife Gina, Charles Randolph (Randy) King and wife Karen both of Rural Retreat, VA. Six granddaughters Kayla Spraker, Amanda King, Allison Wright and JB, Heather and Zack Akers and Cheyenne McMillan all of Rural Retreat, VA, Jessica King of Wytheville, VA. and one grandson Hunter McMillan and Savannah of Speedwell, VA, Several great-grandchildren Aria, Nolan and Rowan Spraker, Fletcher, Kaladin and Khaleesi Phillips, Everleigh and Kenedie Wright, Emmersyn and Lawson Akers, Baylor McMillan all of Rural Retreat, VA, Maggie and Delaney McMillan of Speedwell, VA; One sister Lois Waddell of Salem, VA. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Service will be held Friday,  June 30 , 2023,  12:00 Noon at Lindsey Memorial Chapel with Pastor Darren Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon prior to the service.   Interment to follow in the Mountain View Cemetery.
Jimmy touched the lives of so many and was loved by all.
