James Garland Manuel, age 91, of Max Meadows, VA passed away Thursday, October 13, 2022. He was born November 8, 1930 in Wythe County, son of the late Samuel Garland Manuel and Mary Jane Taylor Manuel and also preceded in death by Frank and Ann Shipwash who raised him. He was a United States Army veteran and served during the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Manuel;  sister-in-law, Linda Breen; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, David and Debby Hanks, all of Max Meadows.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 17, 2022 at the Barnett Funeral Home with the Reverend J.C. McPeak officiating. Interment will follow in West End Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour before service time. Barnett Funeral Home, Wytheville, VA is serving the Manuel family.
