James Fredrick Poole went on to his heavenly home January 9, 2026. He was born August 10, 1947 to the late William E. Poole, Sr. and Edna King Poole at Porters Crossroads, Wythe County, VA. He was preceded in death by his siblings, William E. Poole, Jr. and Daphene Akers and a granddaughter, Olivia Rose.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Margot W. Poole; two sons, Michael F. Poole and James R. Poole; a daughter Sandi Poole; grandchildren, Erin Poole, Jorge Cuestas, Robert Cuestas, Michael L. Poole (Misty), Chandra Poole, Paul Whisman (Mariana), Darian Poole, Jasmine Poole and Marques Poole.

Jim is also survived by his loving sisters, Audre Hagee (Harold), Virginia Weatherman, Faye Reynolds, Wanda Alley and Linda Moran; his brother, Troy Poole (Carol); along with many nieces and nephews.

Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1966 to 1986 – when he retired with the rank of MSG. He served 2 tours in Vietnam and tours served in Germany, Iran and Turkey.

Jim faithfully attended the Hillsville Pentecostal Holiness Church.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 22, 2026 at Hillsville Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor Jeff Pickett and Pastor Bruce Hagee officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until service time.

Inurnment with Military Honor Rites will be conducted at 12:00 noon Friday, January 23, 2026 at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery Mausoleum, Dublin Virginia.
