James Sutphin, 89 of Wytheville VA, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2022. Born September 21, 1932, he was the son of the late Dorsey and Ludie Sutphin.

He loved to garden, and share produce with his neighbors. He played Basketball in High School and later coached little league Baseball. He was a veteran of the U.S. Airforce where he served in the Korean War, and he was a member of the American Legion. He was a big sports fan and he loved to fish.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Teresa Kaselonis Sutphin, one son James "Jamie" Sutphin, brothers Sherman Sutphin, Clarence Sutphin, Noah Sutphin, Oscar Surratt.  and one sister, Clara Rogers.

Survivors include: one daughter Teresa Nelson and husband David of Wytheville VA, special nephew, Russell Rogers and wife Sharon of Wytheville VA.

Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at 12 Noon at Barnett Funeral Home, with Pastor Martin Paulson Officiating: burial will follow at the St Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Wytheville VA.

Friends may call Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at Barnett Funeral Home from 11 A.M. until the service time.
