James Emerson Umberger, age 63, of Wytheville, VA passed away Thursday, December 4, 2025. He was born October 25, 1962, son of the late Gene Autry Umberger and Frances Covey Umberger. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Tamara Hendricks.

Survivors include a son, Christopher Gravely; one brother, Duane Umberger and wife Stacy ; brother-in-law, Freddie Hendricks; nieces and nephews, Brittney and Joe Wilson, Ashleigh Gravely, Joe Umberger, Matthew Umberger and Chloe Umberger; several cousins.

The family extends a special thanks to his Jackson Memorial School family.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at Liberty Hill Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor Josh Graham and Pastor Eddie Dalton officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 service time.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
